O, Moda, Moda
Founders of “O, Moda, Moda” - Nino Nozadze, Ketevan Sakandelidze, Tiko Kvinikadze
Created to engage the public’s interaction with contemporary art, the Popiashvili Gvaberidze Window Project is ever moving public art space located in the vacant shop windows of Tbilisi, Georgia. The ongoing exhibition will last until a space becomes available [tenanted] to show the works of international and regional contemporary artists, often showcasing established artists alongside emerging local talent.
An inspiration for Popiashvili Gvaberidze Window Project’s show of O, Moda, Moda, became a very distinct sense of style and design that is conveyed in the interior design of the cafe/concept store. These mixed styles and particularly mismatched chairs that one sees in the cafe became an inspiration for the project.
The mismatched restored and re-upholstered chairs of O, Moda, Moda lined up against the background of two-colored painted wall that resembles old classroom can be interpreted as a design-portrait of Tbilisi today: chairs from different eras, some from famous designer’s, some from old soviet offices all standing next to each other and presenting the face of the city.
